Well I got a few more day off so I figured I would get back to work.

Worried about the sizing of the wire I used for the first amp I decided to use 600V THHN.

I knew that this size would be stout enough to handle the voltages. So after I wired in the new board I cut out the board I had soldered in.

Wow what a mess soldering all the components.

The board will be mounted to the bottom of the case.

OK TIME TO FIRE IT UP!!

All the tubes in ready to go.

Oh now is scary time.

This photo was taken after the first power up.

You can just see the power light is on and the fuse pulled out of the other side.

Well after power up and the amp had power a couple seconds I heard a ticking sound coming from the amp.

I quickly realized I had no output connected. So I got a couple of old computer speakers and wired them in series for 8ohms and re-fired it up, no way was I going to use my new 2x12 tone tubby cabinets. The ticking went away. I got a guitar and plugged it in. Viola it worked.

Now there were a few things wrong. I saw a little wisp of smoke come from the corner of the power transformer. I tightened the screws and that fixed the problem. I have to get the board mounted to the bottom of the case. Not all my input jacks worked so that must be fixed. Well, I do have a long way to go before testing with the 2x12 cabinets but I see a little light at the end of the tunnel..

Till Next time
